The Tiny Home living has started!

Hello, I’m Fran, and together with my husband Daniel, we own ruru tiny homes. We’ve been selling tiny homes for a good few of years now, but we never lived in one. Until now!

We’ve embraced this adventure of going tiny before, and later on while we build our future house. We’ve been planning and working hard while renting a house, and now it’s time to stop paying rent and live in our own home, on our own section. Our four boys are thrilled to live in their crazy tiny home, and so are we!

As a family of six, with children aged 1-11 plus a dog, we need four bedrooms to ensure everyone has their space. So, our design team at Ruru created the “Moa,” a four-bedroom tiny home on a 12x3m platform with a total footprint of almost 70m².

This design in a standard layout is obviously now also for sale to all future ruru clients!

As a large family, it hasn’t been easy to decide how to make this work, but we are confident that this is an amazing opportunity to learn more about tiny living and enjoy all the treasures this lifestyle brings. The initial downsizing part is completed and was honestly refreshing.

What I can say from our time living here so far is: The cosiness and the fact that we’re closer to each other, spending time watching movies, cooking, or eating together as a family, and going outside to do some landscaping, taking walks, or enjoying a fire in the fire pit – everything has been magical. I can confirm what tiny home owners say is true: Less is suddenly a lot more.

I’m very grateful to have such an amazing tribe of incredible boys, an adventurous husband who’s hesitantly agreed to the tiny home idea and is now happily pottering around the place, and our beloved pet, who is the only one not quite getting the point of why muddy paws must stay outside a small space.

Our time here has been pretty amazing so far. Daniel and I are impressed and eager to see what the future holds, but for now, we’re enjoying the present, which is truly a gift.

As we’re not only living but also working from our own tiny home, sales viewings at our place are available for interested clients in 1:1 appointments.

Many of you already know, but I’ve been documenting every step of the way, from the very beginning of blueprints to now living in our “Moa,” on an Instagram account. So, if you’re curious about how this journey is going and want to follow our tiny home adventure, don’t hesitate to follow us at @TheTinyTribeNZ :)
