We’re excited to announce Ruru Tiny Homes’ nationwide initiative to gift a high-quality tiny home to a deserving family or individual in need. This life-changing opportunity aims to offer safe, affordable housing for someone who might otherwise have no pathway to homeownership.

Nominations are open to all New Zealanders, with no location restrictions as long as we’re inside New Zealand (North and South Island), as we can deliver the home anywhere in the country. Submissions can be made via email to fran@rurutinyhomes.nz by December 20th, 2024. Our team will review all nominations to select a recipient who is ready and willing to embark on this exciting journey.

The home size will be tailored to the recipient’s needs, from a 10x3m single-storey studio to a 12x3m 4-bedroom double-storey home. Our goal is to raise at least $130,000 to fund a build that meets Ruru's high-quality standards. If full funding isn’t achieved, we’ll explore alternative solutions, like a partially finished “shell stage” home or contributions from local tradies.

This initiative is personal for us. Our family of six recently moved from a substandard rental to a Ruru tiny home, experiencing firsthand the warmth, comfort, and simplicity it provides. We want to give that same experience to someone in need.

Beyond the home, we’ll support the recipient in finding land through our lease network and offer property checks and resource consent support to ensure smooth council compliance. Together, we can give someone a fresh start in a warm, high-quality home.
